xx Background image for forum
« Thread started on: May 6th, 2014, 08:31am »

Hello,

Simple question, I'm guessing...

I can't stop my picture for the background of the forum from tiling, is there a way to make it take up the whole of the background and be fixed? (I do check the box).

Thanks.

Regards,
Seb

Stopping it repeating is fairly easy, just add:

<style>
BODY { background-repeat: no-repeat; }
</style>

to the global header.

I did see somewhere some script that will allow the image to be stretched to fit a users screen size - I'll see if I can find it and get it to work.

Try this to make it stretch to user resolution regardless of browser/screensize It covers mobile firefox opera chrome and IE.

Code:
    <style>
      BODY {
    background: url(‘http://imagehost.tld/example.png‘) no-repeat center center fixed;
    -webkit-background-size: cover;
    -moz-background-size: cover;
    -o-background-size: cover;
    background-size: cover;
    }
    </style>

Dalton's did the trick (Dave's worked as well by putting it right in the centre).

I just need to find a larger image I think so it doesn't lose quality when stretched.

What are the best resolutions for the background images, is that set some place on the support boards?

Thanks again.

A lot of monitors use the 16:9 pixel ratio these days, when choosing a background image you can get the best quality by making sure its pixels line up with this ratio.

http://size43.com/jqueryVideoTool.html

Is a 16:9 Ratio calculator.
