xx "Embed Audio" Help
« Thread started on: Oct 15th, 2009, 9:37pm »

I've tried a few file hosting sites to host audio files that I need to embed into some of my threads and it works for about half a day, but then a question mark appears in front of the Quick Time logo and no one can play the audio. I've searched the internet high and low for an answer to this and they all seem as tentative as the probability of the audio working. Does anyone know an ACTUAL fix to this issue? Much obliged.

Where are you hosting the audio file?

I have tried a couple places, the latest one being Mediafire.com. I don't remember what the other one was called.

Can you provide me with a direct link to a music file you have hosted there and also a link to the post that you have tried to embed it in please?

http://download405.mediafire.com/hselss4ajb5g/zgdytcy2oe0/tada.wav

It works now that I refreshed the link, but the same happened on my forum: I would post the link, but in a day or so, it would become inactive.

Here's the link to the post:

The audio file above was taken from Reply #4 on that thread.

(That board is locked to everyone but admins, but do you have a way to access it, or do you need a username?)

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Don't worry, I can access any board without a username wink but thanks.

I had a look at that link and it appears that it contains a session link that is only valid for a certain period of time.

If I click directly on http://download405.mediafire.com/hselss4ajb5g/zgdytcy2oe0/tada.wav - I get taken to a download page which in turn gives me another, but similar URL, to actually access the sound file.. - http://download405.mediafire.com/rgkhovvddsog/zgdytcy2oe0/tada.wav

It sounds like the site only allows short duration direct linking.. sorry, you may need to find a site that allows permenant remote linking undecided
