If I have to....

This is from my PCworld magazine in my stash post-ios5 battery patch that had the major battery issues at the start

The Samsung Epic Touch 4G had the longest battery life span at 7 hours, 22 minutes. The T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide came in second, running for 6 hours, 33 minutes. Surprisingly, the iPhone 4S came in a close third-
with a time of 6 hours, 14 minutes. The remaining phones had similar, and significantly shorter, running times. It didnít seem to matter what the manufacturer was, either, as the bottom results were a mix of HTC, LG, and Motorola phones.

Samsung Epic Touch 4G Sprint 7:22
T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide T-Mobile 6:33
Apple iPhone 4S AT&T 6:14
Motorola Droid Bionic Verizon 4:50
HTC Inspire 4G AT&T 4:31
LG Revolution 4G Verizon 4:27
HTC ThunderBolt 4G Verizon 4:23
HTC Sensation 4G T-Mobile 4:22
Motorola Triumph Virgin 4:14

Pre-battery fix the iPhone had a roughly 4 hour battery life..

Cited from the Nov 2011 PCworld magazine issue.

NOw to compare this phone with the iPhone to the samsung touch on specs and price

Samsung Epic 4G Touch

iPhone 4S tech specs

Heres the summary, the Samsung Phone matches or bests the iPhone in the hardware arena for nearly 200 dollars less if bought without a cell contract.

If Apple ultimately wins their patent cases, people will be looking at more than just battery life! lipsrsealed

Apple is just sad that they come up with ideas then everyone else takes it and says, we can make it with better hardware and for a cheaper price.

The only thing the samsung phones do is take their idea of the smart phone and do it better. NOt patent infringement for someone to take your crappy device and do it better.

My friend has an iMac he paid 7 grand for. I have a machine im running Debian/Win 7 on that has 4 more gigs of DDR3 RAM, 2 3.4ghz i7's to his one, 2 2TB HDDs, and Dual SLI'd NVIDIA 460gx's and I have 3 28 inch LCD monitors, I paid just over 3200 dollars for all that.

My computer dwarfs his in everything except the price tag.

Oh, and to top it all off, mine will run OSX86 just fine if you have to have that abhorrent BSD ripoff of an OS

How do you spend 7 grand on an iMac? I just configured one with maxed out specs and I'm at $3,349. It would really cost a little under $3k if you do the ram and hard drive upgrades yourself.

Also what resolution are your 28 inch monitors? 1080p ones are dirt cheap nowadays, but to get a 2560x1440 panel is upwards of $1000 even if you don't buy from Apple.

Plus it's impossible to have two physical i7s. Are you confusing your i7 with Xeon E3s?

Also, this is for the phone argument.

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Epic-Touch-Android/dp/B005LHN47S

$600 for that phone, with 16gb of memory. It's $650 for the unlocked iPhone 4s with 16gb of memory. Here are benchmarks comparing the two phones from AnandTech:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/492?vs=448

Performance wise, the iPhone wins every single benchmark.

Battery wise the Samsung Galaxy Epic has greater battery power in terms of Watt-Hour, but the iPhone is way more efficient with it's power and during Web Browsing (Data & Wifi), and Cellular Talk time it easily outperforms the Samsung Galaxy Epic in battery life (this is post-fix).

Also the iPhone might have a smaller screen, but despite the smaller screen by about 1 inch, it still packs more pixels into its display. The iPhone has the resolution of 960x640, whereas the Samsung Galaxy Epic only has 800x480. That means the the iPhone 4s has 330PPI, where the Samsung Galaxy Epic only has 205PPI.

In my opinion iOS offers a much smoother user experience as well although this is mostly personal preference so I won't mark this against either phone. Although Siri is quite amazing smiley

So for $50 more, the iPhone is the clear winner between the two phones. Plus that is the 4s model. The new iPhone 5 is coming out mid-September, and I believe it will feature a 4 inch screen. It'll only put it ahead of the competition even further.

As far as patents, I think the whole system is BS and there are too many abusers including Apple. What do you do.

Especially on the infringement of the rectangular design of the phone. Apple shouldn't have been granted that patent in the first place.

Well I'm kind of torn on this one. After-all Apple did reinvent the touch screen phone as we know it today and they did come up with all those ideas that are now "common" functions of any smart phone. The whole thing is really iffy and I'm not too read up on this particular subject so my rambling will stop here tongue

Youre right, got my Xeon E3's on this machine. I have a single i7 on the machine I thought i had a single Xeon on lol. I build too many of these things. (I sell computers through a local shop too so this area of my house is mangled with packaging for my stuff.)

I like both the products iPhone 4s and iPad. But new iPad is heavier than older. Features are good. But I mostly prefer iPhone 4s
