question How to change the font size for mobile devices
« Thread started on: Feb 15th, 2012, 4:29pm »

Does anyone of the code gurus know of a way to change the font size for mobile devices only?

We changed the font for http://libertybasic.conforums.com/ by using the style Code:
<style>
<!--
font {font-size: 14px;}
-->
</style>

But that catch all change is not a good solution for regular browsers.

It makes for a hard time because of the different browsers mobile devices use. We have iOS devices with watered down Safari, Android with watered down Chrome, and others using either IE or Opera.

Without a decisive page that is for mobile only I would not be able to make something that wouldnt effect non mobile browsers.

So placing a button to generate a cookie would be an option.
If the cookie is present then some javascript in the global footer would enlarge the font.

Could that be a solution?

Is possible, problem there lies in the mobile devices that can use cookies. Last I checked iOS didnt accept cookies.

It seems that we could add to the query string, which would get ignored by the CGI scripts.

So instead of the URL Code:
http://support.conforums.com/index.cgi?board=Cquestions&action=display&num=1329344951

We could use the URL Code:
http://support.conforums.com/index.cgi?board=Cquestions&action=display&num=1329344951&mobile=1

Do you think this is even a possibility?

Typically you cant use a query string in that fashion. If you want to pass a value or data you would have to use a session value or a cookie, which we have already been over.

Thanks for the info about working on it.
Will check the suggestions board to add my vote to an existing thread, if there is one.
