Hi, Over on the "Nuffield & Leyland Tractor Forum" we have a problem in that all our images have disappeared until we pay photobucket $39 a month per user ( which is not going to happen).

Im sure this is affecting all forums and I am surprised I am the first to post this problem.

I see members on the above forum are suggesting Conforums should introduce direct image hosting!

Well done my bit. Over to the support admin for advice!

Well, the $39 dollars a year is actually for the photobucket account that hosts the images, and not each user of your message board.

Outside of that, direct image hosting is something that is on our wish-list but that our current storage setup would not be able to fufill.

I can offer you alternative free image hosts though.

Imgur allows you to post and then directly link your images the same way Photobucket does, with no bandwidth cap that I know of.

Imgbb also allows for image hosting, with its only limit being a 16mb file size per image. Which is more than reasonable.

CtrlQ allows you to upload images through their service, though it too uses imgur for storage.

If I can be of any more help. let me know.

Hi, If it was $39 per year I might be tempted to pay it but it is not. It is $399 per year. Please read more carefully!

You are somewhat correct not every user of the forum would need to pay it, just those wishing to post pictures!

As for using other image hosting sites I fear that could be short lived as if Photobucket have success with their charges others will follow!

Sorry for misreading the cost of photobucket.

Unfortunately, looking for an alternative host for your images is your best bet if free image hosting is what you intend to use.

Hi, Considering the photobucket problem is affecting all forums I am surprised I am the only person posting on this subject .

Finding another free image hosting service is a possible fix for the future bt it does not solve the problem of all the images so far posted on forums that have now been replaced by a image inviting you to upgrade to P500 at an annual cost of $399!

Facebook has direct image loading and while not as good as a forum I suspect a lot of people will move to Facebook.

As your income is from advertisers, if people move to Facebook you could lose a lot of income. Conforums needs to consider their future!

Well all of your images can be directly accessed by going into your photobucket account where you originally uploaded them.

Outside of that, I wish I could help you more with the problem than offering alternative image hosts. I also appreciate your concern for our service and will forward that concern on to the powers at be.

If I can do anything else to help you, feel free to post here!
